November Newsletter

Hi Ladies,

I hope you all had a fantastic Halloween and a wonderful October! Here’s what’s going on with STW.

October Recap

October started off strong with STW’s first social event at Moreton Fig, where attendees strengthened their personal and professional connections with other Trojan women over drinks and a fun networking game. Check out pictures and quotes from the event on our Tumblr.

STW also hosted its first signature event this past Wednesday the 29th, Negotiating for Women. Thank you to each and every one of you who came out or watched the live stream for the event, it was a huge success– with around 750 women around the globe being exposed to the event! This was a significant first step toward our vision of “Supporting and Connecting Trojan women worldwide and lifelong.”

A recording of the “very inspiring and educational live-stream” (@myrayepez) will be posted on our YouTube channel in the coming weeks. If you missed the event, we invite you to check it out online. There were some really helpful tidbits that will help you ask and negotiate for what you want with grace and kindness. In the meantime, check out pictures and more reviews of the event on Twitter at @uscstw.

Marketing Update

If you’ve been following uscstw on Instagram lately, you’ve probably seen pictures of puppies, football games, cruises, and island getaways. These are photos from a week in the life of women just like you and we’re looking for more volunteers to share their experiences as a Trojan woman. Email uscstw@gmail.com if you’re interested in participating.

We’re also spotlighting the personal and professional achievements of Trojan women on our Facebook page. If you know someone who recently was promoted, received an award, got engaged, or had some other great engagement, send a recap of the achievement (preferably with a “congrats!” in there) along with a link to their Facebook profile to uscstw@gmail.com.

What’s coming up for STW

November 9 – Giving Back Through Mentoring
Being a mentor to a personal acquaintance or professional colleague is a valuable way to pay it forward as well as to grow your own skill set. Building rapport and knowing what type of “hat” to wear throughout the mentoring relationship is key to ensuring your protégé learns and grows from the experience. During this interactive workshop, you will practice and walk away with skills and tools to maximize your mentoring experiences.

The event will be hosted on campus and is FREE for all STW SCupporters and $10 for guests. Learn more and sign up for the event here.

December 7 (Sunday, 4-8 PM) – STW Holiday Party “Jingle and Mingle”
This holiday season we invite you to join us at one of downtown L.A.’s hottest venues– Noe Bar at the Omni Los Angeles – to enjoy hosted appetizers and reconnect with friends and your Trojan Family around the toasty outdoor fire pits. Enjoy holiday-inspired games and a photo booth while supporting scholarships for promising USC students.

For those of you who are signed up as an STW SCupporter, you will receive free admission to the party for you and a guest.

If you’re not signed up, you can purchase tickets on the event page for $20 before November 11, $30 after, or sign up as a SCupporter today and then register.

Other Alumni Events
Check out all of the other alumni events we’re supporting or participating in and like our Facebook page.

As a reminder, all of our events are open all Trojan women and their friends, so feel free to invite your friends and drop in for anything you’re available to attend-it would be great to see you!

SCupporter Update

Thank you again to all of you who signed up as a SCupporter this year! Your support helps ensure that STW can continue to provide personal and professional growth opportunities like the ones listed above for years to come.

If you’re interested in getting more involved in shaping the direction of the group, consider participating in the Marketing, Scholarship, Programming, Social, or SCupporter committee. There are a variety of commitment levels to fit your schedule (from a couple minutes a month to weekly activities), and I would be happy to put you in touch with the committee chairs for more information. Just let me know.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or feedback, and I look forward to seeing you all next week!

Best,

Meredith

Engagement Chair, 2014-2015
